Global Technical Manager (Homebased International role) - (Ref: 1130)

 


Our client is a world leading company in the selection, production and marketing of yeast and nutrients. They use these products to provide solutions for the Bioethanol and Beverage Spirits industries. They are now looking for a Global Technical Manager with a home based office which can be located anywhere worldwide. Their primary role is to support the global sales strategy and business growth as well as assist the worldwide Business Area Managers in managing their technical sales teams. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Vice President – Sales and Business development and will be expected to travel extensively internationally.

Key responsibilities:

  • Exercise a wide latitude of discretionary decision making and supervise and control the work of regional technical managers and international distributors
  • Support overall sales strategies, per continent and per country built on the company’s positioning as a global technology based solutions provider based around yeast products
  • Monitor trends that indicate the need for new products or services in different markets and sales territories and follows through with the new product development/R&D functions
  • Liaise with and give input to other support functions within the Company to coordinate global performance including:
    • Operations (including procurement, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and customer service)
    • Marketing and new product development
    • Research and Development
  • Support the Business Area Managers and their teams in respect of training, key account technical visits and coaching
  • Monitor investigations into any performance issues related to the Company products and services
  • Recruit new Technical team personnel, also be involved in recruitment of commercial positions
  • Assist in the development of training programs, both internal and customer specific
  • Key role as both host and key speaker at The Alcohol Schools
  • Represent the Company at relevant trade shows and exhibitions
  • Deliver technical papers and presentations at global industry events. (eg. World Biofuels)
  • Control personal expense budget
  • Other duties as assigned by the SVP from time to time

Key skills experience and attributes:

  • Minimum Master’s degree, or equivalent, in a scientific discipline
  • 10 years’ practical beverage plant based experience. Preferably with some managerial position
  • Ideally  5 years sales experience in the distilled beverage industries
  • A good understanding of the brewing, distilled beverage & fuel ethanol industries and processes
  • Demonstration of ability to lead a technically based team
  • Willingness to travel extensively internationally
  • Excellent presentation skills with ability to convey concepts and ideas to all levels of the industry
  • Good interpersonal skills and experience in the development of working relationships
  • Computer ability – Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based communication programs
