Production Brewer (North West, UK) - (Ref: 1110)

 

Our client is a sixth-generation family brewery company based in the North West who employs just over 1,000 people, including 140 at the brewery site and the remaining across managed pubs, inns and hotels. Their brewery produces cask ales and lagers including limited edition seasonal cask ales. They are now looking for a Production Brewer to produce beer of the quantity and quality required to meet sales and who is responsible for the Brewhouse, tank room, cellar and maintenance personnel. The Production Brewer will have 22 direct reports and will report to the Production Director.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage departmental personnel, including recruitment, training, supervision, health and safety, welfare and discipline
  • Prepare and operate production programmes to meet quality and quantity targets
  • Manage raw material stocks and disposal of co-products
  • Ensure all mechanical plant and equipment are maintained in efficient working order and building maintenance is kept to a suitable standard 
  • Ensure high level of hygiene for all brewing plant including good housekeeping of the departmental personnel 
  • Assist the Production Director with project work within the department

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Brewing Diploma as a minimum and working towards Master
  • Computer Literate and savvy
  • Dedicated and passionate
  • Hands-on and prepared to work week-ends and be involved with mashing
  • Must be based in the North West
