Packaging Manager - Based South of England (Ref 702)

Our client, Shepherd Neame, a progressive drinks company, is looking to recruit a packaging manager for its small pack department.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for operational control of bottling plant, warehouse and loading.

Managing the bottling operation on the site, to ensure the output meets our customer demands. The Packaging Manager is responsible for producing good quality products on time and to budget.

The Packaging Manager will control a substantial proportion of the output of the site.

Products will be made to meet the packaging plan which is agreed across the organisation.

The Packaging Manager must record performance of the plant and control the loading and despatch of finished goods from the site.

Good communication is essential.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • To meet the packaging plan.
  • To manage the budget of the department.
  • To maintain and improve quality.
  • To monitor and improve performance.
  • To identify capital projects.
  • To communicate to staff and employees.
  • To identify training needs and develop staff.

Reporting to the Packaging Manager are two team leaders in addition, administration support comes from a central production administration team who are responsible for the flow of material into the department.

The Packaging Manager will help prepare and manage the departmental budget, train and develop all employees and be responsible for maintaining a high standard of H&S.

There are good career opportunities with this role as it is envisaged that the successful candidate will progress to manage all packaging department.

You must be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of drinks packaging, good business acumen, excellent communication skill and an ability to lead and develop a team.
