Brewing Sales Executive (Devon, UK) - (Ref: 1308)


Utopian Brewing is a new brewery based in Devon, founded by seasoned entrepreneurs with large company and start up experience in a range of industries including pubs, bars and breweries. Having recently successfully overfunded their equity raise on Crowdcube, the company are now looking to recruit a Sales Executive to join the team and lead the company’s sales growth. 

The company intend to bring a fresh approach to the craft brewery scene by introducing a range of interesting and original craft lagers made entirely from British grown ingredients, giving people a genuine alternative to the international mega brands.  The company is ambitious and has invested in a 3 vessel / 35 hectolitre brew house to support its plans to rapidly scale output across draught and packaged ranges in both the on trade and retail sectors. 

Alongside the primary desire to produce great beers, the founders are also passionate about sustainability and plan to install a range of sustainable energy sources with an ambition to make the brewery the most energy efficient facility in its class. 

The chosen person will need to be a confident and forward-thinking individual who will report to and work closely with the founding MD helping to deliver the company’s ambitious growth targets.   This is an exciting opportunity for a proven sales person with a desire to genuinely join a start-up operation and shape the company’s growth.    

Key responsibilities:

  • Build and develop a range of regional and national customers
  • Work closely with the senior management team to develop existing contacts
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive forecast
  • Maintain regular contact with the head brewer to assist in production scheduling
  • Play a key role in recommending and actively participating in the development of new brands and recipes
  • Actively participate and contribute to the company’s social media and other promotional activities
  • Plan and deliver impactful customer tasting and promotional events
  • Monitor and respond to beer industry trends in both the On-trade and retail segments 

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Ambitious self-starter with a love of selling
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Numerate and financially astute deal maker
  • Proven successful track record in drinks industry sales
  • Experience selling into both regional and national accounts and advantage
  • Own contacts within the Pubs and Bars and / or wholesale sectors preferred
  • Desire to work as a key member of the leadership team and contribute to its growth plans
  • Location is flexible as can be a home-based role. South East or South West preferred
