Business Development Manager (Shanghai, China) - (Ref: 1269)


Our client, a leading importer and distributor of premium and super-premium beverages across mainland China, is looking to recruit a Business Development Manager. Reporting to the General Manager the role involves maintaining, developing, existing and new customers whilst developing the Company’s product range in the Western On-Trade Channel. 

This exciting opportunity will include journey and activity planning and implementation, developing customer relationships, portfolio/brand management, research, report production and presentations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop customers for master distributors including bars, restaurants and hotels
  • Work with a regional sales teams to drive growth within the region
  • Develop new customers and building channels which will have business critical importance
  • Achieve agreed sales targets on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Deliver presentations externally for product, brand and trade-marketing activities
  • Deliver account focused presentations internally for business growth  
  • Maintain accurate records of all journey plans, customer visits, contracts etc.
  • Liaise and network with a range of stakeholders, e.g. customers, colleagues and business partners
  • Maintain and update customer databases
  • Support organising and attending events such as conferences, seminars, receptions and exhibitions
  • Conduct market research to have a full business understanding of account universe
  • Contribute to and develop account activation plans as well as implementation of those plans
  • Complete administrative work as required
  • Be proficient at maintain weekly reports and databases for reporting
  • Liaise, establish and maintain positive links with customers and suppliers 

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Some experience working in a FMCG organisation in a sales role
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
  • Excellent presentation skills        
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Written and spoken Mandarin language advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Tactful and persuasive approach
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Thrives under pressure
  • Good business sense and the ability to work to budgets
