Engineering Manager (Midlands, UK) - (Ref: 1326)


Our client is a family owned contract bottling and packaging company providing services for the beer, cider and soft drink industries.  The company have the capability to bottle in a variety of bottle and tray sizes and pallet forms.  They package from 20hl to 300 hl.  In recent years that have invested in plant, processes and laboratory equipment and have a modern manufacturing facility.  They are in the process of commissioning a new keg filling service.  The facility is accredited to the SALSA standards and they are working towards gaining an ISO accreditation.

Reporting to the Operations Director they are now looking to recruit a multi skilled engineer to take ownership of the engineering department with responsibility for the planned maintenance, corrective and reactive to support the bottling function. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Put in place a planned maintenance system
  • Ensure spare parts are available and stock monitored
  • Increase the line efficiency ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum
  • Manage outside contractors
  • Capex project manage
  • Implement TPM
  • Manage a small team 

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Minimum qualifications of NVQ level 3 with a relevant HNC/HND or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • A 'continuous improvement' focused approach
  • Experience of modern maintenance methodology and Lean manufacturing techniques including TPM Experience gained within a FMCG/Food & Drinks production environment mandatory
  • A good knowledge of the functionality of packaging line and liquid processing required
  • Sound awareness of PLC's and experience of working in both mechanical and electrical disciplines
  • A good knowledge of diagnostic skills
