Head Brewer (HONG KONG) - (Ref: 1310)


Our client are a global brewer recruiting for a Head Brewer to be an integral part in the team designing and installing a new brewery in Hong Kong. 

The Head Brewer will have overall responsibility for the brewing of all brands from sourcing of raw materials through to delivery of final product to the consumer. Including set up and management of any co manufacturing operations. As a member of the leadership team, they will lead and manage the local brewing team as well as set strategy and steer the business. He/she will set and manage KPIs and budgets for brewery operations. 

The Head Brewer will act as an ambassador and public figure for the brands and shape the long term development of the beer range including new product innovation. 

Key responsibilities:     

  • Ensure great quality and consistency
  • Deliver daily, weekly and annual production plan in line with business requirements and within budget
  • Set up, host and attend public and promotional events as required to drive positive business development 
  • Ensure EHS, food safety, hygiene and legal standards are complied with and driving a culture of ownership and positive improvement
  • Set and manage the financial budget of the brewery’s operations
  • Set up and manage any Co Manufacturing Operations. Ensuring all standards of quality, consistence, volume and cost are delivered in full
  • Be an integral part in the team designing and installing a new brewery in Hong Kong
  • Identify and sponsor CapEx projects to support the long term sustainable development of the business
  • Lead and manage brewing personnel including talent development, succession planning and performance management
  • Establish and manage a Production Management Control and Reporting System
  • Collaborate proactively to share knowledge and best practices 

Skills, experience and attributes:            

  • Formal Brewing Qualification such as IBD Diploma or equivalent supported with strong experience of practical application
  • A trained and passionate brewer with in depth knowledge of beer styles & recipes, ingredients and brewing techniques
  • Strong experience of craft or small scale brewing operations gained through practical experience with a credible craft brewing operation
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to set direction and work autonomously. Able to develop and empower staff and to build technical capability within the team
  • Flexible and able to adapt work style to meet business needs and to cover any aspects of operations
  • Proven strong financial and commercial awareness
  • Confident and credible
  • IT Literate
