Head Brewer (India) - (Ref: 1218)

Our client is an established craft brewery in India. They are the first to introduce bottled craft beer in the country and pride themselves on the hard work they put in to ensure quality, consistency and hygiene throughout the brewing and packaging process.

They are presently looking for a candidate to take over the responsibilities of their Head Brewer, who will be returning to Europe after spending a few years with them. While a large part of their involvement was in setup, commissioning their initial foray into the market, the new Head Brewer will be responsible for not only maintaining the standards set by the predecessor, but also lending their experience and passion to continue to raise the bar while:

  • Increasing throughput
  • Improving efficiency
  • Developing new recipes
  • Working to improve existing processes where  necessary
  • Reviewing/Implementing SOPs across the brewery
  • Reviewing/Implementing QC/QA processes
  • Training brewery staff (assistant brewers and operators)

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in leadership roles working in a challenging and intense environment both at small-to-medium and large breweries
  • Familiarity with both manual and PLC-operated equipment, including: brew houses, centrifuges, lenticular & cartridge filters, flash pasteurisers, double pre-evac fillers and keg washing/filling equipment
  • Experience with yeast propagation, yeast management across generations, cropping techniques and microbiology (plating) required
  • Some experience with equipment selection and overseeing expansion as that will be a large part of what we will look to achieve in the next two years
  • Be familiar with some of the challenges encountered in hot, tropical climates and how to tackle them
