Head Brewer (London, UK) - (Ref: 1321)

 

Our client, an innovative and highly successful London based craft brewery have an exciting opportunity as a Head Brewer. 

The Head Brewer will be responsible for all aspects of the production process across their multiple sites. Reporting into the Head of Brewery Operations and Expansion, this is a high-level strategic role.  

They are looking for someone with a high level of Brewing experience. The successful candidate will develop, oversee and manage all elements of the Brewing process towards optimising and creating the highest quality beer, securing the highest quality of raw materials and defining technical and technological aspects of brewing processes on available equipment (from manual all the way to state of the art fully automatized).  

A key component of this role will be influencing purchasing decisions, meeting with suppliers, coordinating the direction of the Quality Departments Policies and Procedures to suit the needs of the brewing process and secure the ultimate process control. 

They are looking for someone who will understand and lead the production team. This role will define Brewing Department goals and objectives, aligning them with the departmental budget. Have a set of measurable KPI’s to control the process and a way of communicating performance through advance reporting.  

The successful candidate will be a creative thinker who is able to improve and modernise current recipes and create a new aged beer portfolio. 

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Educated to Degree level in Brewing & Distilling MSC, Food Science or Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Significant experience working in the beer industry
  • Demonstrated ability of managing a fully Automated Brewing System
  • Advanced knowledge of either PROLITE BrewMaxx, Simens BRAUMAT or Krones Botec F1 systems
  • Strong knowledge of the Brewing process and beer styles 
  • Confident supervising a Production team and challenging the way things are done
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage and plan workload on a priority basis  
  • Strong IT skills: Advanced Excel skills, advanced user of ERP systems, (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similBar)
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Demonstrate a passion for the brand
