Head of Production (London, UK) - (Ref: 1214)

 

Our client is a microbrewery with taproom and popular bar based in London. They package beer into keg cask and bottle. A well-funded operation, they will be building a new Brewhouse in the same area in 2018. They are now looking to recruit a Head of Production.

Key responsibilities:

  • Project manage the development of a new brewing facility and move to a new site
  • Source and negotiate the purchase of new brewing and packaging machinery
  • Manage facilities install and negotiate contracts
  • Lead brewing operations to be World Class
  • Train, guide, and grow the brewing team to ensure they are efficient and well- rounded brewers
  • Create and maintain a method of continuous improvement of wort and beer quality and consistency
  • Ensure that a brewery Quality Management System is in place and adhered to
  • Manage budget for brewery operations
  • Manage production, packaging, and lab teams, processes and equipment
  • Supervise brewing and packaging schedules
  • Work with Head Brewer to formulate recipes and ensure quality of brewing processes
  • Enforce occupational health and safety standards
  • Negotiate supplier contracts
  • Manage QC process and taste panel
  • Manage accreditation processes – SALSA, HACCP etc
  • Act as an ambassador of the brewery and an industry representative 

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Project Management & risk assessment
  • Knowledge of procurement & negotiation
  • Ability to use systems analysis
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Craft Beer industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of brewing science
  • Strong work ethic & leadership

  • Ability to innovate
