Laboratory Technician (London, UK) - (Ref: 1200)


Our Client started brewing in early 2010 and has enjoyed great success. They are now looking for a Laboratory Technician to join their team. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform physical (alcohol content, gravity, PH, haze, gasses content, colour and bitterness) and microbiological (spoilage bacteria and yeast identification) laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data
  • Assist the brewers preparing the starter for the yeast propagation process
  • Organise daily beer taste panels and keep records of the tasting notes
  • Assist the quality manager with detailed laboratory investigations to determine the root cause for atypical and out of specification results, apply corrective and preventive actions and concisely report investigations
  • Carry out internal departmental GMP audits
  • Assist with writing protocols and technical documents; including the use of statistical analysis packages where appropriate
  • Write non-conformance reports in accordance with internal guidelines
  • Assist training the operators on quality control techniques and instrumentation
  • Be responsible for standard laboratory routines, equipment calibration, maintenance, replenishment etc.
  • Be responsible for the clearness and hygiene of the laboratory 

Skills and experience:

  • Graduate or equivalent in biological sciences, chemistry, microbiology, applied biology, brewing science, food science or food technology
  • Specific skills / training in laboratory techniques as applied to food/drinks
  • Work experience in a food or drinks laboratory
  • Flexibility required due to varying working shift pattern
