Operations Manager (East Anglia, UK) - (Ref: 1245)


Our client is a highly innovative and exciting start-up kombucha microbrewery in East Anglia founded in mid-2017. The business is now expanding and in the process of planning the next production site to increase output significantly.  They are therefore seeking an Operations Manager to lead the new expansion, oversee the smooth relocation and to lead all operations at the brewery, maintaining high standards and striving for continual improvement of systems. 

This is a hands-on position requiring strong leadership, communication, tactical/strategic planning, administrative and project management skills.  The Operations Manager will be responsible for the daily co-ordination, improvement and execution of all manufacturing operations, overseeing production, planning, quality control and maintenance.  He/she will also be responsible for cost control and stock management, as well as managing the brewery team and health and safety.

Key responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of safety
  • Work, and develop relationships, with external suppliers to ensure excellent service on all product/stock movement through the brewery
  • Work closely with the brewery manager to ensure all stock levels sufficient, as well as maintaining stock management system
  • Manage relationships and logistics between sales team, distributors, delivery companies and brewery
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant Food Hygiene standards
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Health and Safety legislation and requirements
  • Manage controlled professional development, professional training and succession planning within the brewery team
  • Supervise all quality control ensuring highest standards are maintained
  • Work with Founder and brewery team on all new product development
  • Ensure continual improvement of all systems to create time and cost efficiency
  • Manage regular alcohol testing and food safety tests
  • Manage relationships with local food safety testing authority
  • Consistently review systems and product for improvements
  • Provide constant leadership, counselling, advice and feedback to peers 

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Full Driving Licence
  • A few years of management experience (including as a department manager with direct responsibility for operations or maintenance)
