Operations Manager (Yorkshire, UK) - (Ref: 1282)

 

Our client, the leading global manufacturer for the brewing industry, is recruiting an experienced Operations Manager to ensure that the required management of service repairs, quality control, stock control, and business development is provided to maintain and increase its customer contract requirements.

Effective budget controls, efficient management of all aspects of the business, co-ordination and communication within a Group environment will be a key part of the operation. 

The successful candidate will be vital in assisting the Managing Director with all future company developments both local and on a global basis as required to ensure a successful growth of the Service Operations within the Group. They will maintain good relationships with other Departmental functions in the group such as Sales, Marketing Finance and Production to keep within any agreed budgets and to pursue new methods to improve the productivity of these functions within an ERP environment. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide innovative advice and assistance to the Managing Director on all matters relating to any current and future operations and organisation within the Service Group
  • Be responsible for all Budget Management of the plant along with the recruitment of full time, part time and agency personnel to agreed levels of output to meet customer contract expectations. Effectively manage manning levels, hours, overtime, timekeeping and absence in line with budgeted limits and procedures
  • Provide and develop the necessary enhancements within the Service Operation as part of the continuous Improvement philosophy of the Group
  • Ensure present and future operational objectives can be met through the development of a flexible, trained and motivated workforce
  • Ensure continuity of the operation by maintaining and developing effective employee and industrial relations throughout the function
  • Ensure attendance to all contractual meetings required by Contract Customers, maintaining good relations by adopting an honest and open approach working toward a true partnership
  • Develop relationships and working partnerships with other Companies and all other parts of the Group, which will assist and increase the customer base by ensuring high quality communications and service throughout
  • Ensure that all Company standard requirements and disciplines relating to the Health and Safety System and ISO procedures are implemented and maintained
  • Manage the smooth running of all functions on a day-to-day basis, ensuring full compliance with agreed Customer Contracts
  • Manage, advise and assist the Managing Director with the immediate and long term planning of the local operation along with other Global developments as required
  • Proactively look at potential major changes and possible improvements to the factory operational functions in order to improve the quality of service to its contract customers and to reduce costs
  • Stand in for the Managing Director as and when required 

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Relevant experience within both an Engineering and brewing industry would be advantageous. Covering all aspects of general management with specific experience in operations, logistics, warehousing, stock control and service repairs
  • Experience of working within an internal and external customer focused environment
  • Financial and costing Knowledge would be advantageous
  • Project Management experience desired to provide continuous improvements along with cost savings where appropriate
  • Familiar with Microsoft applications
  • Have experience working within an ERP integrated environment would be advantageous
  • Good Communication skills and proactive approach to developing working partnerships
