Packaging Manager (South East, UK) - (Ref: 1202)


Our client is a long standing independent family brewery and pub operator based in the South East. Beer quality is paramount, and they have won more than 40 international awards for their beer in the last few years.

They are now looking to appoint a new Packaging Manager as they combine the small and large pack teams into one structure, improving efficiency and quality of their packaging operation. The Packaging Manager will report to the Head of Production and will have responsibility for a team of approximately 20 people.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee packaging teams operating keg, cask, co-pack, and high speed bottle packaging lines to achieve operational objectives
  • Manage packaging material receipt, warehousing and consumption to ensure materials meet quality standards and losses are minimised
  • Ensure all output meets quality specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Embed health and safety policies into the everyday working practices of the teams
  • Observe, analyse and measure packing line performances to implement process improvements to improve operational objectives
  • Work with suppliers to optimise packaging material performance
  • Deliver multi-skilling and flexible working practices to ensure that the teams optimise output efficiencies and minimise unit cost of production
  • Recruit, train and ensure that the team skill levels remain consistent to deliver the expectations of the roles within the team 

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Accomplished man manager, capable of delivering the highest standards in packaging line operations
  • Minimum of 3 years of packaging leadership experience
  • Familiar with OEE, HACCP, and operational metrics
  • Track record of delivering quality and efficiency benefits through continuous improvement processes
  • Experienced in health and safety within a packaging operational environment
