Shift Brewer (London, UK) - (Ref: 1198)

 

 

Our Client is looking for a Shift Brewer to be part of an energetic and enthusiastic team reporting to the Head Brewer.  

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety, housekeeping and quality standards and procedures are adhered to at all times.  You must ensure your safety and the safety of others during the course of your duties
  • Maintain a clean environment for the production of beer
  • Comply with all govt. regulations required in food production facilities
  • Execute brewery activities ensuring production plan is met during the day
  • Execute all necessary brewing operations – brewhouse, cellar and filtration
  • Report on out of specification product to the Senior Brewer or Head Brewer prior to moving forward through the process
  • Ensure routine maintenance of brewery equipment is completed as far as practical
  • Assist with breakdowns as required
  • Ensure duties are completed and adhered to company policies, ensuring all paperwork and QC checks are completed in-full to an acceptable standard
  • Assist in packaging operations as required
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.  This role is expected to put forward ideas to improve product quality and brewery processes

  3. Delivery of product in-spec, on-time
  4. Minimising environmental footprint - MJ/HL, kWh/HL, HL/HL, kgCO2/HL
  5. Accuracy of paperwork
  6. Wastage (product & raw materials)

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Working knowledge of brewing and packaging operations
  • Knowledge of quality control and assurance processes
  • Relevant hands-on plant aptitude – excellent problem solving skills
  • Relevant technical degree (science, engineering, brewing or winemaking) is advantageous, though not strictly required
  • Formal brewing education such as the IBD Diploma in Brewing is desirable, though not strictly required
  • Some experience in laboratory operations is desirable, although not strictly required
  • Flexible attitude towards work with a willingness to work on a 24/7 shift pattern as and when required including week-ends
  • A passion for the brewing industry

The successful candidate may be required to periodically attend festivals and events on behalf of the company and in doing so must behave as an ambassador of the Brewery.

The Shift Brewer must be prepared to be trained in packaging operations.
