Technical Officer - IBD (London, UK) - (Ref: 1171)

 

Our client, the Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD), is an internationally respected members’ organisation with charitable status whose main focus is the advancement of education, training and professional development, principally in the science and technology of brewing and distilling. An opportunity has arisen to join the IBD Team in the London office. The role will be based at the IBD Head Office in London but there will be frequent travel within the UK and occasional overseas travel.

They are recruiting a Technical Officer to work within the Technical and Publications team reporting to the Technical and Publications Manager.

Key responsibilities:
Develop curricula and learning materials for existing IBD qualifications
Prepare material for and develop e-learning content
Develop and manage training accreditation
Scope materials for new qualifications in line with the strategic development plan
Maintain up to date reading lists and other support material for examination candidates
Meet IBD clients to assess needs and develop appropriate solutions
Work cross functionally with the Training and Examinations teams to manage over and under laps
Deliver ad hoc training for both the IBD and the Beer Academy
Write both short and long articles for the Brewer & Distiller International (BDI)
Coordinate the team of field reporters that support the BDI
Represent the IBD at  variety of cross industry committees and events
Develop relationships with other professional bodies where value can be added to IBD members

Skills, experience and attributes:
  • Sound technical knowledge and possession of an IBD Diploma or  equivalent (degree to PhD qualified in fermentation related sciences). A  broad industry perspective (including raw materials, brewing, distilling,  packaging)   advantageous
  • Knowledge of e-learning development
  • Able to work on own initiative, be self-reliant and resilient 
  • Be a completer finisher
  • Able to successfully manage multiple initiatives and timelines
  • Very sound IT skills with proven skills in production of written materials  and articles
  • Excellent communicator
  • Excellent team player with the ability to influence and listen
  • Self-reliant and resilient

The successful candidate will need to be located within a commutable distance of Central London and hold a full UK driving licence, they will be expected to travel frequently within the UK and occasionally further afield. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
