UK Craft Manager - Brewing (East Anglia, UK) - (Ref: 1293)


Our client is a successful malt producer for brewers and distillers worldwide and provides malt consultancy services to its customers. They are now looking to recruit a UK Craft Manager to define and develop the UK craft business unit to deliver value to the Group business in terms of volume and growth. The UK Craft Manager will also support the Group Craft Manager to deliver the exports ambitions and plans. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with Group Craft Manager to develop and implement the UK Craft strategy (incorporating relevant market research and intelligence) and to define the pricing and marketing strategy
  • Define and contribute to brand building for the UK craft business unit
  • Define and set up the marketing & communication strategy as well as actions deriving therefrom
  • Define the product strategy taking into account the technical constraints
  • Develop, set up and lead appropriate actions to develop the business and customer relationships (website development, brochures, events, fairs, discounts and incentives, services)
  • Set and agree annual operating budgets and monitor ongoing performance
  • Take responsibility for and lead Craft services to include CRM, technical services, assistance and troubleshooting
  • Work in synergy with Group functions
  • Assist with the rollout of a Craft business initiative across other geographies and in particular exports from the UK
  • Work with the Operations team to maximise malt quality in line with the potential of the malting barley crop, as measured by micro malting analysis
  • Work with the local operations teams to ensure effective packaging, stock management and quality control of deliveries
  • Look to implement and oversee effective logistics/transport contractual arrangements as required for the Craft Business
  • Define, set up, track and optimise the Company KPI drivers in line with the KPI drivers in the brewery/distillery and in line with the business objectives
  • Review and report against KPI variances 

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • Graduate in appropriate discipline. Brewing knowledge or a relevant qualification essential
  • Proven experience in a production / process control environment ideally within a brewing or wine and spirits industry
  • Strong Knowledge in Marketing/communication and sales strategy development
  • Proven track record in Customer Relationship Management
  • Ability to use Office applications with ideally social media and use of website/on-line shop functionality
