Our client is a family run business located in a picturesque rural location near Christchurch in New Zealand. They supply predominately to the craft beer and distilling industries. They are very innovative producing many types of malt and exporting to several countries which makes their operation very exciting. The Company has several warehouses in Australia and New Zealand.
There is room for expansion at their plant and their current growth is around 25% per year which is pretty amazing.
They are therefore looking for a Maltings Manager. Their business being rural based and strongly related to farming, the ideal candidate would be someone hands-on with a rural background and understanding of country life.
The successful candidate will work with the Floor Manager who is currently responsible for managing production staff and ensuring the smooth operation of the plant and will report to the business owners.
The Maltings Manager will be working alongside the rest of the team carrying out all basic procedures. They will also be responsible for the decision making around inputs to ensure malt meets specification, they will liaise with the Lab Manager, Warehouse and Logistics team, making the necessary changes to production where required.
The right candidate will have solid experience working in malting and will have completed some form of malting science/management courses or in house training.
They need to be competent in all things malting with management experience. They don’t necessarily need a degree or formal qualification however previous study in food science or similar would be advantageous.
He/she needs to be able to make malt or how to manage a malt plant. Essentially, the person needs to be able to understand the principles of malting to be able to hit product specification every time.
The position they are offering comes with accommodation on site in the form of a 4-bedroom home with swimming pool and extensive park like gardens.
