Our client is a successful malt supplier based in the UK with additional sites in Europe. Craft brewing is of strategic importance for the company and they are considered one of the market leaders in providing malting barley to craft brewers in the UK and abroad.

They are now looking to recruit a Technical Sales Manager whose responsibility will be to manage and expand malt sales in the East of England, principally to craft accounts and to provide technical support to those customers.



• Account Management – act as the principal point of contact for customers in your territory and regularly engage with those customers in person to retain and expand their trade with us:

• Regular contact with your customers, in person and using digital means. Manage your time appropriately to maintain and improve relationships
• Understand customer’s needs through active listening and provide product and technical solutions to meet those needs
• Undertake the administrative side of account management including report writing, quoting, credit management & complaint handling.

• New Business Development – Expand market share in your territory through the acquisition of new business in the brewing sector:

• Have an understanding of market share in your territory by carrying out market research and talking to brewers. Seek to expand that share where possible by prospecting new business
• Follow the sales philosophy to match prospective leads with our products and services
• Quote, win and onboard the customer to ensure a world class first order experience

• Deliver the Craft Brewing Budget – manage the sales pipeline and monitor financial performance and maintain sensible margins for all malt sales in line with business expectations:

• Alongside the rest of the sales team, you will be responsible for achieving the sales budget through careful management of pricing and margins
• You will report monthly on progress against budget and have an awareness of what needs to be achieved to meet budget
• You will use the CRM and other reporting tools to present the data in an insightful way

• Technical Support – advise brewers on best use of product and solve technical brewing issues as they arise from customers:

• As a technical sales manager, you will respond to customers brewing problems, investigate issues and offer solutions within the limit of your knowledge and experience.
• You’ll engage with the wider technical team in the business to offer solutions
• You’ll write up case studies from successful technical interventions for the use of marketing and customer service materials

• Attend Industry Events – Attend UK industry events (trade shows, beer festivals, conferences) to represent the company and engage with customers & prospects:

• You’ll regularly attend trade shows, conferences and beer festivals in and out of your territory to meet with customers, prospects and industry colleagues
• You’ll conduct collaborations with key customers to win share of wallet and new business and demonstrate the value of working with us as a key partner
• You’ll identify new events that we should attend as a business and advise the rest of the team about these opportunities

• Active learning – Develop your brewing and product knowledge through courses and industry experience:

• You’ll always be learning new thing about brewing from customers and industry colleagues
• You’ll work with your line manager to develop a personal development plan that supports your growth and that technical offering of the business
• Where appropriate, you’ll undertake professional exams and studies to demonstrate that learning

• Content production – Freely share your brewing / malt knowledge across multiple channels including webinars, presenting at events, writing blog and appearing on videos:

• You will seek to always be learning and sharing your knowledge with the wider industry
• As part of the wider sales & marketing team, you’ll help produce content to spear our collective knowledge globally
• You’ll seek out opportunities to collaborate with industry colleagues to share research and projects that will be of value to our customers and that can be shared digitally or at conferences
