SALES DIRECTOR (MANAGING DIRECTOR DESIGNATE) HOBSONS BREWERY

Located in the beautiful rolling hills of South Shropshire, Hobsons Brewery is looking to appoint a Sales Director, leading to the role of Managing Director within a 12-18 months’ time frame. The role is to lead and control all commercial business operations of an established regional brewery in line with the company’s strategy and values, whilst developing bottom-line profitability. Tasked with continuously looking for innovative and creative strategies to grow sales and profitability with energy, passion, drive and enthusiasm. Hobsons is already widely known to be an excellent company in the marketplace; the Sales Director will be committed to developing more of the same for an expanding customer base. The role will nurture a culture of continuous improvement, meeting the highest sustainable standards of production, workplace and customer service.

Responsibilities:

Sales & Marketing
• Responsible for planning, developing and implementing commercial strategies based on the company goals and an agreed Bull’s Eye for the next three years.
• Develop new and existing relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders, in order to increase effective and collaborative partnerships. For 30 years Hobsons has developed strong trade links which are now needed to be complimented with new approaches as the company shifts from a family business to a newer, modern entity.
• Adopt an ambassadorial role to enhance and develop relationships with stakeholders; customers, suppliers and industry contacts to increase partnerships and trade networking – Trade Associations; SIBA, CAMRA, BFBI, Pub Co’s and local commerce.
• Communicate and develop Hobsons’ overarching values of sustainability to all employees, customers and suppliers. Embody the brand pillars of Local, Ethical, Social and Anecdotal which acts as the foundation and sets us apart, our hat-stand if you like.

People / Operations / IT
• Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing to meet the highest quality standards of production and workplace operations, building cost efficiencies and managing risk.
• Lead and motivate the Senior Management Team (SMT) to ensure a holistic approach towards greater sustainable success.
• Find innovative methods to ensure the recruitment and retention of well-motivated, trained and developed staff.
• Be accountable for decision making on policies and procedures, satisfying due diligence with all legal governance and statutory requirements; health and safety, HMRC Beer Duty, SALSA standards.

Product / Service / R&D
• Building on a solid reputation for award-winning beer and customer service, grow new business by instigating strategies around product development and reaching out to new sales channels. Balancing the core traditional product with that of contemporary future opportunities in the sector to gain competitive edge.
• When developing new products and services, adhere to the company ethos of both financial and environmental sustainability.
• Develop and maintain R&D programmes to ensure that the company remains at the forefront in the industry and strives to be one of the most sustainable breweries in the UK. Seek funding opportunities to enhance productivity, integrate Industry 4.0 technologies and embrace leading-edge products and services.

Finance
• Set financial targets and reporting timelines on capex plans, budgets and forecasts in collaboration with the Senior Management Team. Report to SMT the ongoing performance of the company.
• Continuously evaluate performance at the organisational, team and individual level using achievable KPI’s.
• Review the allocation of resources against budget (12 months) and Bull’s Eye (3 years) while maintaining and monitoring budgets to ensure financial discipline and efficiency.
• Represent the company in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key agencies to secure the most effective contract terms and cash flow.
